Children are like wet cement,
whatever falls on them, leaves an impression. So, it is very essential to
provide her/him with healthier edification from initial years of development. Early
years of childhood are the most crucial in terms of child’s physical,
emotional, intellectual and social development. The mental and physical growth
progresses at an astounding rate and a very high proportion of learning takes
place in the first five years of her/his age. It is that time, where children
need special care and a lot of learning experiences. Education begins from this
moment and continues on as the child attends playgroups and kindergarten. Although,
the learning capabilities of humans continue for the rest of their lives but
not at the intensity that is demonstrated in the early years. During, this
period, children develop primary skills that lays the foundation for their
life.
Few years ago, barely one-third
of kindergarten teachers felt it wasn’t important for their students to learn
how to read before first grade. But things have changed now. Researches show
that great teachers and early childhood programs can have a long term effect on
the children. By high school, children who have excellent schooling do little
better on tests than similar children who did not. This raises the demoralizing
question of how much of a difference schools and teachers can make. Teachers
with a strong background in early childhood education and child development can
best provide for toddlers when they need to grow physically, emotionally and
intellectually.
Along with reading, writing and
counting, kindergarten
schools in India also focus on social development of the
child. Children entering their first years of regular schooling have to be
prepared to interact with other children, control themselves and corporate with
the other children in their class. Children also tend to learn everyday good
habits like washing hands before eating food, after using the toilet. They
learn about etiquettes, like saying sorry when wrong, saying excuse me if they
want to interrupt someone, saying thank you when after receiving a reward or a
compliment. Children learn to describe and differentiate between common shapes
like a circle, square, triangle, and rectangle and to identify, sort, and
classify objects by colour, size, and shape. Skills like these cannot be
learned until children take their first steps into kindergarten. Kindergarten
provides children with opportunities to play and learn with other kids outside
of a school environment.
A kindergarten truly helps in
nurturing a child and gives a notion of training, which is unique in its own
way. Kindergarten schools in India play an exceptionally essential part in
inculcating various values in a child, which are so prevalent in the Indian
society.
